Fannie Mae has licensed Lenders across the United States to originate multifamily loans. These Delegated Underwriting and Servicing (DUS) Lenders are authorized by Fannie Mae to underwrite, close and deliver most loans without Fannie Mae’s pre-review. This group of Lenders is granted broad discretion to make lending decisions, and Fannie Mae delegates the responsibility for pricing, processing, approving, closing and servicing to its DUS Lenders. Fannie Mae’s DUS product, the multifamily industry’s most popular permanent loan for financing apartments, is also available for financing manufactured home communities as well as senior housing communities, which includes congregate and assisted living facilities.
